In 1918 the Santacana Roig family, one of the oldest in the Pened\u00e8s region, embarked on its journey into the fascinating world of wine.<\/p>\n

Years of great dedication to the land and winemaking make this one of the most prestigious brands in the Upper Pened\u00e8s wine industry.<\/p>\n

8 October 1992 saw the inauguration of the expanded winery, which continued the ancestral winemaking tradition \u2013<\/em> demanding, artisanal, respectful and firmly committed to nature and the environment \u2013 which works every day to ensure that Montesquius remains a leader in cavas and wines.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

This land was carefully tended by Sant Sadurn\u00ed d\u2019Anoia\u2019s townspeople, who saw during the early 18th<\/sup> century how the fruits of this fertile land full of contrasts reached prosperity. However, it was in 1887, during the phylloxera plague that ravaged the region, that they all got together and imbued the land of the region with tenacity, effort, sacrifice and work to overcome the plague.<\/p>\n

In a shared struggle, farmers and producers including the Santacana family replanted the vineyards and managed to get lush vines to sprout once again.<\/p>\n

This essence is what would fill Montesquius with a bouquet<\/em> that recalls years of efforts to achieve the best fruits for their vintages. An origin surrounded by traditions, underground paths carefully lulling to sleep the dream of cavas and wines until the perfect vintage.<\/p>\n

Years of tradition and sacrifice, love of the land and its fruits, and tradition and innovation, combined together in its respect for history, have made Montesquius a leader in the production of cavas and wines<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Montesquius is proud to continue to produce its cavas and wines using traditional methods to quality standards that have placed it among the best cavas and wines in the world.<\/span><\/p>\n

Once the grape harvest is over, Montesquius selects the best musts from each of the various grape varieties such as Macabeo, Xarel\u00b7lo, Parellada, Chardonnay or Mourv\u00e8dre in order to turn them into cavas and wines faithful to their origin. In their production, ageing times are carefully monitored and the best possible conditions are guaranteed. This process has allowed Montesquius to produce Reserva and Gran Reserva wines.<\/span><\/p>\n

Montesquius continues to innovate, working and devoting its efforts to providing consumers with a product of exclusive quality at all times. Unique aromas for subtle palates that enjoy and appreciate a job well done in the vineyards.<\/span><\/p>\n
