Hiking through Vineyards
Hiking + visit to a hundred-year-old winery + sparkling wine, brunch, and relaxation in our gardens!
This visit is especially intended for people who love nature and wine-making, so that they can find out more about the process of making sparkling wine, from the vineyard to the bottle.
We will start out by walking among the vineyards, visiting the region’s most emblematic vineyards. Our 4 km walk will take us away from the city to breathe fresh air and get to know the landscape of wine, the Penedès area, guarded by the mountain of Montserrat on one side and caressed by the breeze of the Mediterranean on the other.
Along with a guide specialised in hiking the Penedès area, you will learn to distinguish old vines from younger ones (we’ll see vineyards that are over 70 years old!), as well as discovering different planting systems, the way that vineyards are oriented, the characteristic features of the terroir here, and the region’s indigenous grapes: Macabeo, Xarel·lo, and Parellada. Depending on the time of year, you will also be able to see what stage the vineyard’s growth cycle is in: flowering, harvesting, pruning, the ripening of the grapes…
After your walk, we will be waiting for you at Montesquius, where we will explain more about the wine-making process: from the harvest to the making of sparkling wine. Our guide will show you our hundred-year-old winery and the magical process of making sparkling wine using the traditional method.
The visit will end with a tasting of our reserve sparkling wines, along with brunch. In our gardens, enjoy a platter of regional cold cuts, bread and tomato, ham, and pastries, or if you would rather, you can have our vegetarian or vegan brunch instead.
Experience and enjoy the landscape of sparkling wine country, experience nature, and relax with a glass of sparkling wine at Montesquius!
